I honestly feel I could have done better on this lighting assignment. I know I put forth the effort to get a good picture but I don’t think that really happened. I got a bunch of mediocre pictures but I still feel like I haven’t gotten the hang of it yet. I saw the assignment more straight-forward. I was a little too focused on getting the lighting and requirements correct rather then getting a meaningful photo. This is something I would really like to work on for the future. I tend to try to do things more technically and could really hurt me in a class like this. I was really surprised by the feedback I received for my one photo. I thought I got more credit then I deserved for it. I was happy that everyone agreed it was a good example of direct lighting, but I was also happy some people got a little meaning out of it. I never thought of it in some of the ways other people did, and it made me realize I may not be as bad as I think at taking photos. I really just tried to find a subject that was interesting or different, but I saw that even if you have an interesting subject it doesn’t always make a great picture and vice versa. Over all my perception of the assignment and how people viewed it was very different. I think we all took the assignment in different ways. I saw a lot of people with pictures that had a lot of meaning and others that were technically good. However, I was surprised to find that I don’t like nature phots as much as I thought I did and you can’t always get a good nature picture. I think it really depends on the type of person and I saw that not one way was right or wrong. I was also surprised that I actually liked almost every picture in some way. Even if it wasn’t pretty or if the lighting was wrong I found that they can speak to you in whatever way you interpret them which is really cool about photography.
